Some Ideas For Wood working

Howdy!  Ive had so many requests to make and sell the walnut mini bread board set I recently featured in my giveaway, that Ive decided to start selling the set in my Etsy Shop!
 Im so excited about this because these are walnut and you know how much I LOVE walnut.
I just cant thank you all enough for the wonderful comments you left about this bread board set, as well as, my others. 

Well, I shouldnt have been so overly optimistic about how much I would get done in Part II. I did make some progress, but Im no where near finished. What else is new?

I started on the stretcher: cutting the curve with my remaining turning saw (the one that was supposed to replace the prototype, but which I dont enjoy that much), truing the curve with a round sole spokeshave, removing the old finish with a jack plane, and beveling the edges with both round and flat sole spokeshaves. Here are a few shots of the results:






I didnt finish the arms of the frame, which Salaman refers to as "cheeks", but I did get them roughed out with the saw:



The inside curve was awkward, but I found a way to get at it. And sawing while kneeling on the floor was kinda fun...


And finally, heres a shot of the saw so far:


Its still a little chunky, and a bit on the heavy side, but I think the final shaping will take care of both of those problems.

Well I was hoping that the sub-contractor for pouring the walks would have started last week, but I guess since it was Masters week here in the Augusta area, they didnt even call. Hopefully, the walks will be done this coming week.

We did spent the week running errands, and buying stuff for the deck and other projects around here.  Decided to at least post some pictures of the deck with the new furniture and a fairly full complement of plants (at least for now).

The pollen fronds have finally finished falling from the oaks.  Without any cracks between the planking, it is quick work to blow them off the deck.  Even the mud tracked on the deck during installing the water and power, came off with just a spray of cleanser, brushing with a long handled brush and rinsing with the hose.  A lot easier than wood or composites in my experience.

Well have less of a problem with tracking once the walks are installed.  Of course, once all this work is finished and vehicles wont be in the backyard, we can finally get something done with the  backyard so we wont have so much mud.
